Avilene ate waffle and pears for breakfast. For lunch she ate tuna & crackers, sweet potatoes, and mandarin oranges.
I think Avi was ready for her nap after lunch time! I was at the changing table, showed her the pajama's and said, come here and get ready for your nap. She immediately responded and came running over in a hurry. It was so cute. "I'm ready!! I'm ready!!"
I took this picture of Avi in the igloo and I thought she looked so big!! She frequently goes in and out of the igloo - doesn't stay in there very long. But I guess she really doesn't stay anywhere very long!! Ha! She is getting too big, too fast!!
I usually introduce the kids to doing Art around 15 - 18 months. Avi is obviously a little younger than that, but I just wanted to see what she'd do. I sat her in the highchair without the tray so she could watch what Reid, Sophie, and Hudson were doing. And she observed for several minutes. She made several marks on the paper, but then started putting it in her mouth and other hand. So we'll try again in a week or two weeks. (That's primarily what I watch for - will they keep the markers out of their mouth.)
This is an FYI for Mommy and Daddy: Avi hasn't had a bottle here for several days. She has been easily getting 12 - 14 ounces of milk daily with her sippy cup.

Avi - 1/9/2017
Avilene ate chex cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast. For lunch she ate pulled pork sandwich, ate most of tomato soup (with a straw), and ate pickled beets. Sophie likes to get bibs at meal times for Hudson and Avi. Hudson frequently doesn't appreciate her help (ha!) and I told her I'd take care of Hudson. Sophie said, "I'll take care of Avi!" :)
We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and Avilene was busy, busy, busy!! I took this picture below when Avi was checking out Sophie's food display! Ha! Hudson came over to show Sophie a book and that was a perfect distraction so Avi could move in! Sophie's favorite high-pitched squeal this morning: AVEEEEEEEE.......AVEEEEEEEE!! Actually Avi was doing quite well I thought!! Sophie was way more worried about what Avi might do instead of seeing what Avi was actually doing!! As soon as Sophie would yell Avi would flee the scene!! Ha!! (with empty hands!)
Avi explored lots and lots of toys this morning. She played with these cell phones several different times. This is an old flip phone and she was able to get it open and shut. A few years back Reid's Mom worked for AT&T and supplied me with LOTS of discarded phones for the kids to play with.
One of the kids (or I) will always mention when the mail arrives. These three went to the window to watch. (Reid is not here today.) When I took this picture Hudson and Avi were looking at Sophie and she apparently has a toy in here mouth.

Avi - 1/6/2017
Avilene ate oatmeal and a couple bites of canned prunes for breakfast. For lunch she ate hash brown casserole, bites of biscuit, and ate mandarin oranges.
Avi was so busy and working so hard dragging this yellow bench around the room. She would pull and tug on it, sit on it, crawl over it, pull it some more, crawl over it some more...now that's a hard working little girl!! (And I'm serious!) She is learning so much about the world around her!! And she goes about her play (work) with determination and focus!! Ha! I'm impressed!
Reid was on the couch watching Avilene play with the shaped sorter and he hopped off to "help" her. Which was very sweet of him, but not really what Avi was wanting or needing! But she tolerated it! Ha! I took this picture of him putting the shape in the bucket and he proudly said, "I helped her a little." Yes you did Reid and thank you. Avi just watched what he was doing and when he was done she went on about her business. :)
Avi had a good morning and as usual stayed busy doing her own thing - she observes what others are doing, but at this stage she only likes to interact with them on her own terms. :) The differences in temperament and personality of the children always fascinates me!! Some children are always in someone's personal space and they like that contact. That's not Avi. :)

Avi - 1/5/2017
Avilene ate flat bread and blueberries for breakfast. I'm trying to limit serving sizes on foods like blueberries that may affect or cause a diaper rash. She wasn't thrilled and wanted MORE of those blueberries! Ha! For lunch she ate slice of turkey, bites of dinner roll, 1 green bean, and ate her strawberries.
This morning Reid said, "Avilene is one of the funniest kids I know!" Yup, she's hilarious alright! Why do you say that Reid? He answered; "Remember when she had a HUGE poop!?!" I remember lots of them, but I guess I didn't realize it provided you with so much comic relief! :)
Here's a picture of our busy little Avi girl!! She played with these legos - she primarily likes to get in the drawer and shuffle things around for the sound effect. (obviously my opinion - ha) She sat on my lap for one book, looked out the window at the kids going to school, charged back and forth across the room, played with Baby Nora's saucer, and played with the shapes again. She loves those!
Hudson, Avilene, and Baby Nora all took off their socks this morning. (Baby Nora is the worst! She has both socks off within two minutes of arrival everyday.) Too cold for that! Ha! So I found some slippers for everyone. Avi's slippers kept slipping off so I put a rubber band around each of them and that worked fine. I took this picture so you could see what I did. Reid approved! He was watching me and said, "Good choice! Now they not come off!" LOL!

Avi - 1/4/2017
Avilene ate whole wheat toast and cantaloupe for breakfast. For lunch she ate ham, cracker, half of bean & bacon soup, and ate mangoes. This is just an FYI for the parents - Reid and Sophie are both home today and they both have a fever! Hopefully it will not spread around!
I said, "Somebody stinks!! Is that you Bubba!?" He said, "No" and pointed at Avilene. Haha! And he was right! Later I thought he'd pooped again and I asked him. This time he sat right down on his butt so I couldn't peek into his diaper. LOL!! (Then I was convinced he was poopy! But he wasn't!)
Here's a picture of Avilene engaging in the first activity of the day - playing with those shape sorters! Baby Nora rolled over to see what was happening and Avilene just looked at her for a moment and went back to shape sorters. That's more interesting!! Ha!
I tried to get a couple of pictures that would depict one of Avilene and Hudson's favorite places to play and one of their favorite activities. They do a Toddler/Infant version of chase/peek-a-boo around the swivel/rocker! The best part is the laughter and fun they are having! Avi got so excited anticipating Bubba chasing her or saying, "Boo!!" Hudson was frequently chanting her name too; "Avi, Avi, Avi..."

Avi - 1/3/2017
Avilene ate bagel and apricots for breakfast. For lunch she ate chicken, whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and applesauce.
Avi came into Daycare and was her usual fun and busy self. Sometimes before Lauralea leaves for work she'll have time to interact with the kids; fix Sophie's hair, sing with them, and frequently play this game where she bounces the children on her knee and sing a special song. Avilene was watching that today and grinning all over. So Lauralea asked if she wanted a turn. Haha! No thank you! That's not happening! (Well maybe eventually! Will keep you posted!)
At the beginning of Story Time I asked Avi if she wanted to read books. She did this huge affirmative head nod and came over to the couch with her arms extended. And she sat for almost 1 page of 1 book!! :)
This shape sorter you see in the picture is the first toy Avilene started playing with as soon as she walked into Daycare. She worked real hard at this and was having lots of success. Sophie decided Avi needed some help and was pointing at which hole to put the shape into. Shortly after that Sophie was playing with the food toys and Avi decided to return the helping favor! She went over and stood directly on Sophie's plate of food! (Which wasn't appreciated or well received!) :) In the 2nd picture below Sophie was hiding under the pillows from Hudson and Avilene.
I'd been watching Avi crawl up on the yellow bench (when it's tipped like you see in the picture) several times this morning. So I had the camera when she did it this time; except she almost went over on her head. She was almost off center, but she caught herself! Well done Avilene! You made me gasp!!

Avi - 12/30/2016
Avilene ate malt-o-meal cereal for breakfast. (I didn't offer her any raisins.) For lunch she ate some of everything: ground beef, whole wheat elbow noodles, mixed fruit, and applesauce.
This is a picture from yesterday afternoon when Avi kept covering her head and charging around the room! They love doing that - right up until the big crash!! :) However, Avi never did crash yesterday!!!
This was actually the first day she went under one of our blanket houses. Sophie had lots of food toys in there and you can see Sophie giving Avilene a drink of milk! And she was offering (i.e. sticking food in Avi's face) Avi lots of other food as well! In the other picture Avi is hanging out in the blanket house by herself taking a 3.75 second "power break." I just happened to be holding the camera! The picture makes it look as if she's just chilling and relaxing!!
And in the last picture Sophie is hiding under the blanket! (These pictures today all have a common theme!!) There is really nothing more entertaining than a game of Toddler Hide-n-Seek! Sophie yells out instructions and Bubba and Avi just wander off to play elsewhere! Ha! Sophie yells "GO HIDE" to Hudson (repeatedly) and then shows him where to hide and instructs him not to move!! Then she pretends to "find" him at least a half-dozen times. (More efficient that way!)
