Avi - 04/12/2021

Avilene ate cheerios and half of banana serving for breakfast. For lunch she ate ground beef, bite of pita bread, three servings of olives, ate avocado, and two servings of strawberries.

First picture: Avi is under the blue balance beam in her "cave" and Miles is peeking in to see what she's doing. Avi was under here trying hard to coax Svea to join her, but with the toy exchange Svea was having a hard time leaving all the goodies. Avi was under there saying, "Svea! are you coming?" 6.8 Seconds later; "Svea! are you coming?" Miles decided to look and see what the big attraction might be. :)

Next picture: We add more and different supplies to the Art Cabinet every Toy exchange too; as well as rotating the trays and activity bins for the Preschool. The 4 girls are busy creating some of their own designs using markers, pens, glue, stickers and tracing patterns.

Last picture; This is another memory-matching game and the kids have been playing lots of these lately. This one has faces with lots of different feelings. (Which gives us an opportunity to talk about the feelings too.) As you can see in the picture there are a lot of matches; I didn't count, but I think it said on the box there are 18 matches. They each won one game so that was fun for all.

Avi - 04/09/2021

Avi chose not to eat breakfast. I burned the brown rice so we went with corn chex cereal along with the raisins. For lunch she ate two servings of salmon, bite of whole wheat dinner roll, ate small serving of cauliflower, and two servings of mangoes.

I was able to retrieve a couple of pictures from yesterday, so I'm posting one here. This was the experiment when we "pushed" the race car across the table without touching it. Each of the kids got a chance to do it as well. You had to be directly behind the car; if you got too low or too high the magnets would slam together. It was a fun experiment and they enjoyed it almost as much as the adults. :)

Here are a couple more pictures from this morning. Atley and Avi were playing the matching game which Atley brought this week. Later in the morning, these two plus Nora and Svea were playing it as well. Last picture: Ok, there's a story behind this picture; an incident that occurred probably 15 minutes before I took this picture. Avi and Nora were in a very heated nose-to-nose dialogue that was growing louder by the second. Seriously. It was going from bad to worse so I had each tell me their version. It had to do with the 4 pictures that Nora brought from home to give to each of her friends to color. Avi was not happy with the picture Nora gave her and wanted the one Nora assigned to herself. Of course. Eventually Avi wound up "helping" Nora color the "desired picture" like you see below. So that was an acceptable solution. Here's the humorous part of this incident: Nora went back to her seat at the table and Svea said, "I love you Nora." Nora said, "I love you too." Svea said, "But I'm still gonna play with Avi." Essentially she wanted Nora to know she was gonna play with both of them. It was SO cute, she was so sincere, and very funny at the moment.

Avi - 04/08/2021

Avilene ate cinnamon raisin English muffin and two servings of mandarin oranges for breakfast. For lunch she ate ground beef, whole wheat elbow noodles, a few peas, and ate applesauce.

Well my photos are in the computer, but I can't access them to this program. Which of course messes with my Blogging plan for today and actually every day!! I use the pictures to tell the stories and it's much easier to explain something the kids have been doing. So I'll be working on solving that issue tonight.

Science with Lauralea: We began by talking about our experiments with seeds from last week. You've seen the seeds sprouting in the sealed baggies with water-soaked paper towels. We compared those bags with one bag we put in a dark closet. The seeds in the closet with no light actually did start to sprout, but it's not very healthy looking (very pale instead of green) and very spindly.

Our theme for today was Magnets and we had at least 6 different experiments we did. First one was simply to select 10 - 12 items from the pile on the table and see which ones responded to magnets. We had two buckets; one for magnet success and one magnet unsuccessful. :) Then we each had a glass of water and chose 3 items to put in the glass. They used their magnets on the outside of the glass to see if they could lift them to the top and out of the water. Then we tried magnet jumping!! :) Using a measuring stick we tried different items and the best one jumped 1.5 inches in response to the magnet.

More fun: Can we move a little race car across the table with a magnet without touching the car! Yup we can. Two magnets together will push against (or repel) each other. Everyone got a chance to do this. Another activity was painting with steel marbles using a magnet. Last, but not least was fishing for colored paper clips using a magnet on the end of a string. Each child was assigned a color and fished for that color. Except for Svea; she was catching schools of multicolored fish. Haha.

Avi - 04/07/2021

Avilene had no French toast and ate two servings of strawberries for breakfast. For lunch she ate a large serving of Hearty Paleo Stew with meat, cauliflower, broccoli, sweet potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, and carrots. She ate saltines and three servings of tropical fruit. (Mangoes and Pineapple.)

This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon when the kids were having fun playing outside in the sun. Everyone except Miles is on the airplane. Avi and Atley are still carrying bunny rabbits from easter. :)

I sent Molly a cool picture of Avi jumping off the igloo and then then attempting a front-flip. (So Molly could look at it in Live Mode which is not possible on this Blog.) It was pretty impressive on her first attempt - or at least the first attempt I've seen! Side note; while she was jumping off the igloo someone pushed Avi and she yelled, "Atley don't push me!!" Haha. (Without even looking to see who pushed her!) It was Svea. Hahaha.

Last picture: I'm not the only one getting loves from Miles. Avi adores him and he was letting her give him loves too. Notice how she was holding his right hand too. Precious.

Avi - 04/06/2021

Avilene ate blueberry waffle and two servings of grapes for breakfast. For lunch she ate chicken, whole wheat tortillas, corn, and three servings of baked cinnamon apples.

First picture: Avi at breakfast practicing the universal sign for choking. If you saw Svea's Blog you know this was initially started by Svea telling Cal all about her choking incident and then showing him the sign. Avi, of course, was taking it to another level and kept pretending she was really choking. She actually did have a lot of waffle stuffed in her mouth so I was keeping a close eye on her!!!! Goofy kid.

Next picture: Avi snuggling with her bunny and Cal making a move to get closer to one of them or both of them. Ha.

Last two pictures; The Hansen Family were initially planning to come back tomorrow, but they were able to make it before Lunch today. :) Here's Avi giving Miles some loves shortly after his arrival. Miles has been a bit more resistant to Avi's loves, but so far she hasn't' been too discouraged. Haha. He's getting more independent and all those loves slow him down.

Avi - 04/05/2021

Avilene ate kix cereal and no fruit cocktail for breakfast. For lunch she ate ground turkey, half of toasted whole wheat sandwich thins, ate avocado, tomatoes, and two servings of cherries.

This first picture is left over from Friday afternoon and Avi was pounding nails. I realize we all use pneumatic nail guns now, but it's still good practice for hand-eye coordination. Ha. Second picture; Yup, easter may be over, but we can still hide eggs. Avi is watching Atley find the eggs she hid.

The Hansen family are in South Dakota and will be back at Little Treasures on Wednesday. So the "match-ups" playing together were a bit different this morning. Svea and Atley do not often play by themselves, but they were having fun while Avi and Cal were playing in the Daycare Room. When I took the picture Avi was trying to keep Cal from putting his finger in his nose for the picture. Ha. Thanks Avi. Then she was "gently" rolling him over off the couch onto the floor, over and over again. Following picture; Avi saw Svea and Atley using the eggs in their hair so she tried it.

Last picture: I thought I'd post this picture today to show you how our experiment from Thursday is doing. This baggie happens to have Svea's name on it, but all the bags have flower seeds starting to sprout. This one is on the top and easier to see. Inside a sealed baggie, no dirt, just a wet paper towel. The kids are very excited to see the seeds starting to sprout.

Avi - 04/02/2021

Avilene ate oatmeal and two servings of baked cinnamon apples for breakfast. For lunch she ate hamburger stew with meat, carrots, tomatoes, and green beans. She ate half of whole wheat dinner roll, and ate fruit cocktail.

Well just in case you thought Avi and Atley might be tired of hiding and looking for Easter eggs I'm gonna post two more pictures. First one from yesterday is Atley hiding an egg under my chair outside. Following picture; they're back at it this morning!! You'd probably guess from the picture Avi is hiding an egg in the puzzle rack. Actually she'd hid it earlier and this is how they give each other "hints!!" She was saying, "Hey Atley!! I can see one from here!!" Hahaha! Wow, good spotting it Avi! :)

Next picture: Hey!! They actually found something different (dot painting) to do rather than hiding Easter eggs continually!! Haha. Following picture of tunnel they stretched from igloo to couch. Avi asked me; "Hey Gary, can Atley climb through here!?!" Sure, go ahead. What could possibly go wrong with that!?! You notice Avi volunteered Atley to go first! :)

Last picture: Bet you don't recognize this corner!?! We did a "lockdown drill" this morning and I use this room downstairs. We have it set up with some toys and activities in case that ever happened. I have to do 2 of these kind of drills yearly and I always choose days when I have less than a full load of kids!! It's so much easier to herd everyone downstairs safely! (Nora and Miles are in route to South Dakota.)
